Top engineering scholarships

The FECON Scholarships will be awarded to students who are currently enrolled or accepted into a university engineering program. They must be recommended by an engineering faculty member. The Floyd H. Lawson Scholarship is open to junior-level transfer students entering one of the Watson College engineering disciplines. Students are selected based on academic merit. A review of Watson College students is done based on donor terms, and selection is made based on high academic achievement. Recipients are selected in the Spring for the following academic year.

The Boeing Company Corporate Scholarship is offered by the College of Science and Engineering for continuing Seattle University undergraduates. Eligible students must have completed at least one-quarter of coursework at SU. In 1996, the Executive Committee of AISE Canton Section voted to award a scholarship in honor of John Klusch for more than 35 years as Canton Section Secretary. Students eligible to compete for the scholarship must, at the time of application, be the children (natural, step-children, adopted or ward) of a United States citizen or landed immigrant who is a member, in good standing and paid for the past two years, of AIST, or be a Student Member of AIST through the Material Advantage Student Program and attend or live in the AIST Northern Ohio Member Chapter area. The student must also be accepted at an accredited North American university or college studying engineering or metallurgy. Scholarships are renewable on an annual basis for up to three additional years. The scholarships will be awarded principally on the basis of academic achievements with respect to high school GPA, extra-curricular activities, and planned major course of study (engineering applicants are preferred) to eligible high school senior student(s). The Alfred B. Glossbrenner Scholarship was established in 1988, in honor of the founding chairman of the AISE Canton District Section. The Dr. Sydell Perlmutter Gold Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to daughters of Air Force members pursuing a bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Education, or Mathematics (STEM) field. Applicants must be graduating high school seniors who have excelled in mathematics. Preference will be given to applicants who are first-generation college students and have demonstrated financial need based on the most recently submitted FAFSA. The AIST Ohio Valley Chapter Scholarship is available to students who are dependents of Ohio Valley Member Chapter members or to student members who live or attend a university in the chapter area, who are pursuing an education directly relating to the production of iron and steel, relating to the support of the production of iron and steel, or the management of iron and steel manufacturing and distribution of steel. The student must be the child (including step-children, adopted children, or wards) of a member in good standing of the AIST Ohio Valley Member Chapter, or an AIST Student member, in good standing. The student must be accepted into, planning to attend, or currently enrolled in an eligible curriculum at an accredited university, college, or technical training center. STEM Bachelor of Science degrees preferred. Bachelor of Arts Degree candidates in related fields such as general manufacturing management are eligible. Students wishing to attain an Associate of Science degree in STEM-related technology are also eligible to apply. Recipients are encouraged to re-apply. To re-apply, it is the responsibility of the student to submit an application and official transcript of grades for the entire academic year to the AIST Ohio Valley Member Chapter Secretary as soon as the current term is completed for subsequent review by the Scholarship Award Committee. The objective of the Southeast Chapter is to reward and encourage an AIST Southeast Chapter high school senior or college undergraduate student, preparing for a career in Engineering or the sciences, by providing a grant of financial support during attendance at any accredited university or college The Gene Suave Scholarship will be awarded as a one-year scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded to a Southeast Chapter student pursuing a career in engineering, the sciences or other majors relating to iron and steel production on the basis of GPA from a high school (senior applicants only), or an accredited college or institution. If there are no applicants in engineering or the sciences, other majors will be considered. Consideration will be given for extracurricular activities and the student's written essay. This scholarship fund is for members of the Material Advantage program who live in, or attend a university in, the Southeast Member Chapter area, children, stepchildren, grandchildren or spouses of active (dues paid) Southeast Chapter members for two consecutive years.
